Tea Ceremony

Japanese Matcha Tea

Our pure matcha green tea powders have a very special history.

Our incredible matcha is mostly grown in Kyoto Prefecture, where it’s been grown since the 12th century!

In a stunning valley in the south of Kyoto is Uji town. Uji lies on the banks of the Uji-gawa River, is home to two World Heritage temples, and is where green tea was first grown in Japan.

Uji has a reputation throughout Japan for excellence in tea production and the tea is regarded to be of superior quality.

Much of our matcha is produced by farmers in Uji and surrounds. You will find that all of our matcha and green teas provide the origin of the leaf and as much information about the producer as we can supply.

We will be highlighting our farmers and producers in future blogs, but in the meantime, enjoy these photos of the amazing wonders of Uji, Kyoto.
